Today we tried sweet potatoes for the first time and, as you can see, Joshua was not terribly impressed. He seemed to hate it more with each bite really. We are going to try a few more times, but if he continues to hate them, we might wait another few weeks before trying anything else.

Your dad said maybe Joshua is like him and just hates sweet potatoes - maybe you could start with applesauce. I've never met a baby that didn't like that. It slides down easier too. Back in the day we were told to begin with milky, thin cereal as an introduction to solids but perhaps that has changed along with all the other things they told us like laying babies on their stomachs.
