Surprise Treats
Tonight we went over to our friends the Hansons' house, and they surprised us with cake and ice cream to celebrate our birthdays and anniversary. The cake was very very good, and according to Callie, not very good for you, so there was probably a correlation there, but whatever. It was worth it. Here we are enjoying our celebratory cake.

Canine Friends
Tonight we went to our friends the Hansons' house for the evening. One of Joshua's favorite things is animals, and in particular, he seems to love dogs. This works out well, as Terrence and Natalie seem to be two of his best friends (though with Natalie, it's more of a one-sided friendship). The Hansons have two dogs, so Joshua is always excited to see them and play with them. Here he shows his love for Cody by grabbing some fur (we're still working on being gentle) while Millie looks on in terror.

Theater of Rock
Tonight I went to a concert for one of my favorite bands, Three Days Grace. They're a hard rock band, but the concert was held at the very elegant Midland Theater. The juxtaposition of styles was odd. Meghan and I have been to the theater in the past for events that seemed to be a better match, such as the Nutcracker Ballet, but the theater was remodeled a couple years ago, and now they have a much wider variety of types of performances. Here I am in front of one of the five giant Czechoslovakian hand-cut crystal chandeliers that adorn the theater.

Pain Rain
I was in Chicago this week for work, and it was bitterly cold there. Maybe not bitterly cold for winter, but definitely bitterly cold for March. I was assuming the weather would be better in KC when I got home tonight, and it was, sort of. It wasn't in the 20s like in Chicago but instead was in the upper 30s. However, it wasn't warm enough to avoid wintry precipitation, as I was pelted by sleet or some form of painful rain on my way to the car. Here I am as this evil rain tries not only to injure me but also to ruin my picture.

Rough Day at the Sprint Center
Tony had an extra ticket to the Big 12 Men's Basketball Tournament at the Sprint Center, and he offered it to me. I was able to find a way to clear out my afternoon schedule, so I was able to head downtown to see two of the games: KU's and K-State's. Unfortunately, exactly the opposite happened from what I wanted, as KU won their game and K-State lost theirs, which put us both in a bad mood. Here Tony and I force fake smiles in front of the Sprint Center after the games.

Happy New Year's!
Today we rang in 2011 at the home of our friends, Jason and Callie. We had a great meal and then counted down until midnight. It was fun and a special New Year's with friends and family. Here I am with Joshua shortly after midnight.
